WORKSHOP ONE

Leadership Foundations

Understand the difference between management & leadership as you explore what 'good' leadership even looks like in the games sector.   

Get to know the responsibilities of a leader and start to define what kind of leader you want to become. 
WORKSHOP TWO

Mastering Communication

2 hour live online sesssion
Learn methods for approaching difficult conversations while exploring the coaching approach to leadership and how to leverage 1:1s.

Discuss best practices for helping people to grow, stay motivated or how to manage poor performance.
Workshop 3

Building Team Culture

2 hour live online sesssion
Build a strategy/vision for your team, using different methods for setting clear goals while understanding how to measure progress and better Interpret the widers studio's organisational strategy. 
WORKSHOP four

Helping People Thrive

2 hour live online sesssion
Spend time reflecting on how to create a positive and productive office culture while keeping an awareness for staff burnout. 

Learn strategies to support well-being of your team so that people can thrive in their work. 
WORKSHOP five

Influencing From Within

2 hour live online sesssion
Get to grips with the importance of advocating for your team while learning approaches for “managing up” & working with superiors.

Explore approaches for influencing policy and company culture while planning ways to grow internal networks and break down silos. 

Practical Work & Community

Each workshop has practical tasks and projects that particpants must embed into their own workflow between live sessions. This brings theory quickly into practise and allows particpants to test what works and share their outcomes in a safe and supportive environment.   

Throughout the programme, participants will be connected into small groups to build powerful and long-term leadership communities.

Limit Break
Harun is the lead for Limit Break's training division and the Associate Producer at No Brakes Games. He offers mentorship training drawing from 5+ years of industry experience. Author of "The Pocket Mentor" for video game testing, he passionately promotes game development to youth as a STEM ambassador, engaging with the local community on diverse aspects of the industry.

Mastering Workshops

Jon Mecan

Ubisoft / 
Matteo designs cooperative games and playful workshops. His unique approach blends social issues into what he terms "minimum playable dilemmas," making games a tool for thoughtful engagement. For example, he co-designed Daybreak, a cooperative board game about stopping climate change. Matteo excels in facilitating workshops that empower participants to create playable prototypes within a day. He helps Champions to turn their ideas and knowledge into tangible experiences.

Course Dates - May/July 2024

The Future Leaders course runs over a 2-month period, running a session every week on a Friday morning or afternoon. The sessions are either two hour workshops or integration sessions, which will be led discussions looking at how concepts have been implemented with time for reflection and feedback.

FAQs

How long does the training last?

The training lasts 12 weeks. We run one session every week, with 6 days for integration and any practical homework in-between before a discussion period. We are open and happy to look at different timetables based on organisational needs if you have a large enough cohort. 

How is it delivered? 

The programme is delivered online through Zoom and via Discord for private group discussion. The sessions are run live and usually happen during the working day. We do offer an in-person training version, please enquire here.

Is it games focussed?

All the training has been built with the games sector in mind from the ground up. All examples and case studies involved in the training are based on game studio examples from real world experiences. Participants should be able to connect and understand the value very quickly. 

Are sessions recorded?

The trainer's session will be recorded. However to ensure a safe space for sharing, activities and participant responses will not. The recordings will be available for upto 1 month after training has been completed.  

Do you monitor the efficacy of the training?

Yes. As part of the training, participants fill in regular surveys to monitor their understanding. We also support a personal development plan throughout.
